Historical background:
October 31st 1942
The Croatian 1st Proletarian battalion, the Croatian Josip Kraš battalion and a company from the Slovenian Vzhodnodolenjski detachment with 37 wounded fighters attempted a determined charge to break free from the encirclement by cca. 40 thousand men from Italian, German and Ustaša units aided by the Legion of Death, a collaborationist White Guard unit.
